The Wizard of Oz at Sphere Las Vegas: A Immersive Experience
Opening August 28, 2025, “The Wizard of Oz at Sphere” brings the beloved 1939 film to life through revolutionary immersive technology, creating a first-of-its-kind cinematic experience.
Hosted at Sphere Las Vegas—world’s most advanced entertainment venue—this reimagining uses artificial intelligence, environmental effects, and next-gen audio-visual tools to transport audiences to the Land of Oz like never before.
Sphere Studios collaborated with Google DeepMind, Google Cloud, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Magnopus to transform the original 4:3 Technicolor film into a seamless 16K spectacle spanning 160,000 square feet of LED screen.
The adaptation preserves the original story, cast performances, songs, and visuals—no new dialogue or music was added. Instead, AI tools like Imagen, Veo, and Gemini were used to upscale footage, restore missing visual elements, and recompose scenes to match the massive curved canvas of Sphere.
Sphere’s 167,000-speaker Immersive Sound system remasters the film’s iconic score, while multi-sensory effects including wind, scent, fog, and haptic seating blur the line between viewer and scene. Visitors will feel the tornado roar past, smell the poppy fields, and experience the magic of the Yellow Brick Road in real time.
